Things You Should Never do on Facebook if You’re in a Relationship

Facebook.com is probably one of the most popular websites with a current global and United States rank of 2. There are reportedly 8,353,390 sites that have linked to this website and no wonder it has become such a phenomenon. In fact, in the United States, the number of divorce cases attributed to facebook.com has been on the increase especially lately.

It is all fun and bliss when you are finally in that new relationship and everything seems rosy going to forever. However, there is a monster on the loose; that is the lack of netiquette (acronym for internet etiquette or network etiquette) especially on Facebook. Below are a few don’ts to avoid if you are in a relationship otherwise, they will railroad your relationship to ruin.

Change your relationship status without discussing it
Nothing is more embarrassing than declaring that you are in a relationship with someone who does not even know it. Worse still, someone you met in the morning while jogging or you bumped-into during the morning rush. Wait until the relationship is serious enough that a majority of your friends already know about it.

War of words
Real relationships constitute real conversations and not verbal exchanges with your significant other whenever you run into a rough patch. The use of Facebook to air out your dirty laundry can be quite a humiliating event for your partner and he or she will never forgive you for that.

Give too many details
Falling in love is probably one of the best feelings ever in the world and you would like to shout it out from the mountaintop and Facebook. However, remember it is polite to do so in a mild manner as such abrasive manner could incite alienation from your loved ones and even cause major eye rolling and eye balling.

Posting racy pictures
Posting photos of your newest catch, as they walk down the beach in a bikini or as they are taking some time off on a hammock on the verandah, will definitely attract attention. However, it is not the kind of attention you will like and furthermore, posting such pictures to your profile shows just how much little respect you have for your significant half.

Sharing a Facebook page or profile
You might be married or a few years down the line in your relationship however, there is a line to draw when it comes to the two-become-one speech. This line extends to the sharing of a Facebook page, as you never know when something from the past might creep up in the form of an old friend who has no idea who of the two of you he or she is talking to.
